Sam's Blessing

My handsome boy!!!

Cute Fam!!!

Sam got blessed in September when he was almost 4 months old. We wanted to do it before, but stuff kept coming up on fast Sundays before September. It was such a great day for our family. All of my family and Mark's was there and both grandpas, and all uncles were in the circle. It was a wonderful blessing and Sam was blessed with many wonderful things. I am grateful to have a worthy husband who can give blessings!
P.S. My awesome Mother-in-law made Sam's blessing outfit out of the same material she made my wedding dress and Miles' burial outfit out of!!! Awesome!!!!

Family camping pic!!!
For the last 3 years the Huston family has gone camping in Oak Creek Canyon for a weekend. This year, it was the end of July when Sam was 2 months old. I really hesitated in taking him camping, but decided it would be fine. He did awesome!!! He loved every minute of it, and even did well at night and never cried!! I couldn't ask for a better baby. We had a great time! I didn't take any pics but we went down to the creek again where Mark and Russ jumped off the huge cliff into the creek. It was awesome!! I'm so glad we have done this for the last 3 years and I hope it keeps happening!!!

Sammy boy's birthday........May 27, 2010

Yikes!! I can't believe how swollen I was!!! (and miserable)
Me right before we left for the hospital to have Sam!!! I'm sooo huge!!

Daddy "cutting the cord". They obviously already did, but left some for us to get the pic.

Me seeing Sam for the first time. I thought I would cry a lot more than I did because I would ball watching a Baby story, but I did get a little emotional.

Sam brand new!

Seven pounds ten ounces!!!!! (that's 4 weeks early too, he probably would have been 10 lbs if born at 40 weeks!).

Me holding my baby boy for the first time!!!!

Mark changing one of Sam's first diapers!

Sam's cousins William and Gracie meeting him for the first time. We live with them right now, so they were so excited for him to come!!! And they love playing with him still!!

My perfectly healthy baby boy!!
I wasn't going to do a post about this day after posting the video of Sam being born, but for journaling purposes, I decided I wanted to write down my feelings about the day Sam was born. The day before he was born I had an amniocentesis to see if his lungs were developed enough to have him be born 4 weeks early, and luckily they were!! So they told me to be at the hospital the next morning at 8:30am. Mark and I decided to go on our last date as just us 2 so we went and saw Iron Man 2. That night, I hardly slept thinking that the next day I would meet my baby!! That morning I couldn't eat, so we just got ready and took the lovely pics of me, said bye to William, Gracie, and Debbie, and we were off to the hospital.
Sam was born at Banner Desert Hospital, the same hospital Miles was born and I was worried that it would be hard, but luckily it wasn't bad at all. (I'm pretty sure he was born in the exact same room too.) When we got there, we had to wait for a while but then they had to pump me full of antibiotics and fluids which took a while. Then, once that was done, they wheeled me into delivery and gave me a spinal block. That was so weird!! Slowly, from my toes to my chest, it all went numb! It kinda freaked me out too because I couldn't feel myself breathing and I had a cough and when I would cough I couldn"t feel that either (that cough later caused me to get pneumonia when Sam was 5 days old). I almost started freaking out, but decided if anything was going wrong, they would be doing something. I remember the anesthesiologist (sp?) was really funny and his assistant that stayed all during the delivery was hilarious and kept telling jokes to keep my mind off of it. He was so good at it, I didn't even realize they had started the delivery. So before I knew it, they were telling Mark to stand up to video! Mark also said my blood started squirting in the air!! But once I heard that cry, I was so happy! He was alive! Right after he was born, the NICU dr's looked him over and said he was healthy and great!!
That was music to my ears. After everything that happened with Miles, I was so worried about Sam. After getting me stiched up, I was in recovery for a couple of hours while they waited for the anesthesia to wear off. I loved holding Sam, just staring at him. He was my baby!!! My parents, Mark's parents, and several siblings came to see him there. The rest of the day was great!! We had lots of visitors. Including Miles' nurse Megan and his Dr., Dr. Weng from the NICU. It was so great to see them in much better circumstances.
I am so grateful for Sam. He is now 5 months old, and the light of me and Mark's lives. The baby right after losing a baby is called your Rainbow baby, and Sam is definately that. A rainbow after the storm. He is such a happy, friendly, smiley, cute, chubby, baby!! I love him so much and so grateful for the Plan of Salvation that allows me to be with him forever!!!

Sam's Nursery

When trying to decide on how to decorate the nursery, I couldn't find anything that I really liked so my awesome sis-in-law Debbie helped and pretty much designed it all!!!! Then her and my equally awesome mother-in-law made made this AWESOMe quilt and bedding for the crib. (which my mother-in-law found at a yard sale with the matress and changing table all for $60.....score!!!). I LOVE this quilt!! I almost dont want to use it cuz I dont want it to get worn out!!!

Debbie also made this cute guy. It's all made of fabric, and if you soak any fabric in starch, it sticks to the wall and peels right off without messing up the paint!!! Awesome!!!! It's also awesome to do this when you want to cover the back of a bookcase or something like that.
For my baby shower gift our friend Rachel collaberated with Debbie and made these cute pics!!! LOVE them!!!

More Awesome pics!!

Debbie also made this cute name banner!!! She is so creative!

Sorry this is a bad pic, but Debbie also made this cute alphabet picture using di-cut scrapbook paper. Needless to say, I LOVE how Sam's nursery turned out and when I get his dresser painted and cute, and hang up these cute vintage pics I got, I will post a completed nursery pic!!

Watch at your own risk!!!!!!!

Here is the video you have all been waiting for.....or not. This is the awesome video Mark took of Sam being born!!! Don't worry though, I had a C-section and it is very tasteful! Just know ahead of time, there is some blood!!! This is May 27, 2010 at 11:06am. Sam Michael Huston is here!!!!!!!

My missionary little brothers

This is going way back..........but I'm way behind so here it goes!!! April was a WAY eventful month for us! My baby brudder....Taylor, or Tay Tay as I like to call him, left on his mission to the England, Birmingham mission. (He has now been out 5 months! ha ha). Here he is the night he got set apart as a full time missionary.
Just had to add this one in. I know, I'm huge.....and this is pre-swelling. Oh and the same night.
Sorry it's blurry but here is me and the hubs along with Elder Taylor Brant Dahl. So here is the rest of the story. The next morning a volcano in Iceland decided to erupt and stop ALL air traffic in Europe. And since Taylor was going straight to England to the MTC there, he got a phone call 20 minutes before going to the airport telling him he wouldn't be going on his mission today. He was then supposed to go 4 days later, but yet again his flight was cancelled. So 8 days (i think) after he was supposed to be in England, they finally had him go to the MTC in Provo. It's a good thing too, cuz Taylor was going CRAZY being a set apart missionary at home for a week. That just sounds like tourture!!!!!!

And then about a week later, my other little brother Tanner Luke Dahl came home from the Russia, Rostov-na-Danu mission. Ya, Tanner and Taylor missed each other by a week!!! Can you believe that!! But because Taylor ended up going to the Provo MTC, they were able to arrange a meeting! So they got to see each other for about an hour. So....that was a blessing in disguise!!! Here is Tanner and my Mamacita! It was really funny cuz Tanner's plane landed about 20 minutes early so he was waiting for us. Mark happened to go the bathroom and see Tanner in there before anyone else did and my mom was waiting for Tanner with her sign looking and waiting for him to walk down the walkway, and he came up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder! It was really funny cuz she was so confused!!

The whole gang!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so proud of Tanner and Taylor!! They are the best brothers ever!!!
(and Aaron too). :)
