Wednesday...Zoo Day!!!

Today we went to this zoo.  The Henry Doorly Zoo.  It and the San Diego zoo are supposedly the best zoos in the country, and it did not disappoint!  We decided to get a year pass to it because we thought Sam would LOVE it!! Oh and he did!!  He are a few pics I took today. 

 Sam with the penguins (I can't take good pictures so you can't tell it's the penguins.  But you can see how much Sam likes them!).  At first he was scared when they would swim by, but now he loves them!!!

 The fish!!!!  He loves them too.

You can't see it that well, but of all the huge awesome fish, he was the most into that tiny one right by him!  It was cute.

The giraffes.  We almost got to see them doing something we didn't want to see!  Yikes!

Mr. Gorilla.  Sorry, the pics today weren't that interesting.  But we are going to go every Wednesday now, so I'm sure there will be more!!!  It is so cute though to see Sam seeing all the animals.  He LOVES it!!!!!

A day to remember.      Mark officially became a.........................

Blue Jay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  One day down, just a few to go!!  I 'm so proud of you babe!!!!

Things we love about Omaha!!!

 1. Well, Sam loves the 2 parks in our complex
2.Our ward.  Pretty much the whole ward is young couples in grad school and it's so fun!
3.  Our complex......the same as our ward!  We have met a ton of people already!!!!
4.  Midwest people...they are seriously so nice and friendly!!  For example, we were at Home Depot and bought our new vanity only to find out it wouldn't fit in our car.  So while we were trying to figure out what to do, 2 people offered to take it to our house for us!!!  So the lady who did drove 10 minutes from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to our house in Omaha just because she was nice! 

 5.  Did I mention Sam LOVES his car and the 2 parks by our house?  He is constantly saying, "go, car?". 
6. the cool houses here.  (that will be a future post all by itself!)  they are seriously cool.
7. It's my mission!!  How could I NOT love it? 
8.That there is a temple 10 minutes away.....and the Mormon Trial Center where i served!!!!!!
9.  The gym at Creighton only costs $30 for the whole semester for me! Isn't that cool?
10.  That we live 3 blocks from the Missouri river! And the Lauritzen Gardens. 

11.  The weather!  Well, most of the time.  It has been in the 70's and 80's the whole time we have been here, and most days are not humid.  But the Humid ones are bad!!!!  There are CRAZY thunderstorms here and it has rained a ton!!  See how much it rained 2 nights ago?  Sam's whole pail is full!!!  Oh and there was a tornado watch that night too!  But mostly we love the weather!!!!!  We LOVE Omaha!!!!

Our house

 Here is our cute house.  We live in an awesome townhouse complex where I would guess 90% are student's and their young families.  It is so fun!!!  I love that our house is mad of red brick and has black shutters!!!

 I am obsessed with this cool bush in our front yard.  I love it!

 We are working hard to fix up our house.  Can you tell Sam loves that Mark's tools are everywhere?  He loves to "fix" things!  SO far we have painted our living room, upstairs bathroom, our bedroom, Sam's bedroom, Mark has put in a new vanity in the upstairs bathroom, and he has set up my hair station!  We have done a lot, but there is so much to still do!!!!  I will post pics of each room as we finish them.

We are in Omaha.....along with my parents!

 Mark and my dad drove all of our stuff to Omaha in the Penske truck while towing our car, and Sam. my mom and I flew the day after they got there.  My friends, that is the way to do it.  2 1/2 hours in a plane is much better than 3 days in the car with a 14 month old.  My parents stayed for the rest of the weekend and helped up set some stuff up!!  Sam loved to help grandpa!!

 This cute boy is obsessed with this car.  My MIL Maurine found it on the side of the road.  Someone was going to throw this awesome car away!!!  Best gift ever!!!  thanks Maurine!!!

It was really fun having my parents there that weekend.  I totally lost it when we said bye to them at the airport.  I had never lost it at all about moving until we said bye to my parents.  I think it is because it was final.  They were the last ones we had to tell goodbye.  But I'm doing good now!!

Moving!!!!

 Moving we are learning, is NOT fun!!!  This is the 5th place we have lived in 3 years and 9 months of marriage.  But moving across the country is definately the worst!!!

 Here is most of our stuff in 1 room.  Our living room.  We were really worried we wouldn't be able to fit everything into a 16 ft. truck.  We have a LOT of stuff!!!! 

 But my amazing hubby fit it ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He has major packing skills.  I was very impressed. 

Unpacking it was NOT fun though.  So I heard.  It was all unpacked by the time I got there!!!!!  Good job babe!!!!

Aaron gets his White Coat

 My little brother is in Medical School.  Yup, I know, that's cool.  He is super smart and will be a great doctor.  So I guess traditionally, at the beginning of Med school, they have a white coat ceremony where they give you your 1st white coat.  I got to go to this ceremony before we moved.  Here is Aaron getting his white coat!!!!!

 So before we moved, my awesome SIL Alison organized one last Huston girl's night.  It was a blast!!!  I stole this above pics from Debbie or Connie....I can't remember which.  We ate, played games, talked, laughed, and had a great time!!!!

We actually got together with quite a few friends, but somehow I didn't end up with any pictures of them!  It was hard to say goodbye, but it was fun!!!!!!!!

Hello World!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup my friends.......we are here, and we ARE alive!!!!!!!  I have a lot to post about but we have been working day and night to paint our house!!!  We LOVE it here so far.  The weather has been amazing......like in the 70's and 80's and everyone is so nice!!!!  We miss everyone though!!!  Stay tuned for more posts.....I just wanted to let everyone (all 2 of you who read this-ha ha) know that we are doing great!!!!!!!

P.S.  Does anyone know how to get those dumb "photo has been deleted" things off the background of my blog?  I can't figure it out!!!!!!!!
